Coweta schools head toward the holidays

Garrett Gunnoud and little sister Madison Gunnoud were among about 120 students and neighborhood children who dropped in to visit Santa at Willis Road Elementary School on December 9.

The jolly old elf has visited several schools in recent weeks, and stopped by Willis Road for the school PE Departments “Pancakes with Santa” that morning, to listen to Christmas wishes and help the school raise funds for a new gymnasium floor and a walking track.

Christmas and New Year’s holidays will begin December 20 (last school day for students December 19). The first day of the second semester will begin for all students on Thursday, January 4.

The centre for Performing and Visual Arts has stayed busy with holiday concerts and public performances throughout December

Its last major public performance will be held Saturday, December 16, when the The Song of Atlanta Chorus and Atlanta Vocal Project will perform “Harmonize the Holidays”at 8p.m. that evening.

Tickets $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors and are available at The Centre box office (770-254-2787), Morgan’s Jewelers on the Newnan bypass and Scott’s Bookstore on the square in downtown Newnan.
