CEC Night High School registering for second semester

The second semester for Coweta County Night High School classes will begin Monday, January 7, at the Central Educational Center.

Students interested in pre-registering for night school classes can do so through Friday January 4 and Monday, January 7, 2008

Night high school classes include a half-credit driver’s education course offered Monday through Thursday after school at CEC from 4:30 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. p.m. Full-credit academic courses are also offered, ranging from Spanish 1 to Math, English, Science and Social studies courses.

The after-school driver’s education course offered at the Central Educational Center is a half-credit high school course and costs $200 to register. The course includes 30 hours of supervised driving experience and at least six hours of night driving, as required by Joshua’s Law, and counts for ½ of a Carnegie Unit of high school credit.

Full-credit courses offered include Math (4:00 p.m.-5:50 p.m.), Science (4:00 p.m. -5:50 p.m.), Social Studies (5:50 p.m.-7:40 p.m.), English (5:50 p.m.-7:40 p.m.), and Spanish II and III (4:00 p.m.-5:50 p.m.).

Students who are eligible for full-time night high school and who are not enrolled in a regular day-time high school program can take up to three, two-hour night high school classes, held at 4:00 p.m. and 5:50 p.m., Monday through Thursday at the Central Educational Center (CEC) campus.

Regular Coweta County High School students attending day-time high school classes may also attend courses at CEC’s night high school as “fifth block” with permission from their high school guidance office. Enrollment in fifth block classes require a tuition fee of $200 for half-credit courses (driver’s education) and $400 for full-credit courses.

Regular high school students must have a clearance from their base high school guidance department before enrollment in night school. Registration forms and more information are available at each high school’s guidance department.

Full-time courses taken as fifth block classes require a $400 tuition fee for Coweta County residents. A $650.00 tuition fee will be charged to out-of-county students.

Only cashiers checks and money orders can be accepted for registration (no cash, personal checks or credit cards). The Central Educational Center is located at 160 Martin Luther King Drive, and can be reached at 678-423-2000.
