after
winning
first
place in
this
year’s
county
Spelling
Bee,
held at
7 p.m.
Monday
at the
Centre
for
Performing
and
Visual
Arts.
Griggers
and
Atkinson
Elementary
student
Emily
Finger
competed
as
finalists
after 15
rounds
of
competition
in this
year’s
bee,
which
began
with 25
spellers
in all.
Griggers
won the
bee
after
spelling
the word
“collation"
and then
"Philadelphia.”
Kayla
Falvo
from
Evans
Middle
School
was this
year’s
third
place
speller,
and each
of the
three
students
were
awarded
ribbons
and gift
certificates
from
Scott's
Bookstore.
The
annual
spelling
bee is
open to
students
in
graders
4
through
8.
Falvo,
Finger
and
Griggers
are
eligible
to
attend
the
District
5
Georgia
Association
of
Educators
Spelling
Bee on
February
24.
