Coweta County Schools

Date: January 31, 2008

Kindergarten registration April 1 - May 1

Registration for 2008-09 Kindergarten classes in the Coweta County School System will be held April 1 through May 1, at the school system’s Central Office registration center on Werz Industrial Drive in Newnan.

Students must be five years old on or before September 1, 2008, to be eligible for Kindergarten classes at their district school. Parents can call 770-254-2820 to inquire about about which elementary school district serves their home.

This is the first year that parents must register new students – including incoming Kindergarteners new to the school system – at the Central Office registration center. Parents interested in touring their children’s new school are urged to call the school for a visit, but registration will not be done at individual schools sites.

Parents who wish to register their children for next year’s Kindergarten classes can call the Central Office registration center at 770-254-5551 for appointments or for more information. The center’s registrar urges parents to call for an appointment to reduce wait times.

Central registration appointment hours will be 8:00 a.m-12:00 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. To accommodate parent’s work schedules, the office will hold an expanded registration times on Tuesdays and Thursdays during April from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The center will be closed during the week of April 7-11, for Spring Break.

Information about registration and directions to the Central Office can also be found at www.cowetaschools.net/registration. Online forms are available at the site for parent convenience.

New students cannot be enrolled for school without the first five registration requirements listed above.

The Coweta County School System urges parents to register their children for Kindergarten during the April 1-May 1 registration period so that all registration requirements can be met before the start of the new school year. Early registration also allows the school system to plan for adequate staff and materials for the new school year.

After School Programs are also available at Coweta County Schools, and parents can inquire about fees and times at their district school.
