What can you do as a
parent?
- Children should
attend school every day unless sick or have other extenuating
circumstances.
Testing week is
April 17-21.
- Make sure your
child has eaten breakfast each morning, especially during testing.
Testing week is April 17-21.
- Be sure your
child gets an adequate amount of sleep, especially during testing
week. It is recommended that school age children receive approximately 8-10
hours of sleep per night.
Testing week is April 17-21
- Try to schedule
your child’s dental or doctor appointments after school hours,
especially during the week of testing.
Testing week is April 17-21.
- Give your child
a quiet place to study in your home with materials needed (pencils,
paper, index cards, markers, etc.)
- Be sure to
read each day in your home. The 15-30 minutes before bed can be the best
time for reading. If you have several children, an adult in the household can
read to everyone at the same time or an older child can read to younger
children. The school or public library has reading materials appropriate for
the age of your child.
- Each day
encourage your child to do his/her best every day. Tell them “good luck
at school” or “I know you’ll do well today.”
- Be in contact
with your child’s teacher regularly by agenda, email, note, phone call, etc.
- Review practice
tests that your child brings home from school.
- Practice sample
tests on your own. You can practice one page per night. Many practice tests
are located on the internet. Our school website has several options.
