Class / School Policies
Daily Folder
· Blue folders will come home each day. Items on the LEFT need to be looked at and “left at home”. Items on the RIGHT need to be looked at and “sent right back”.
· Folders will contain items such as a class newsletter, graded student work, a daily behavior report, school information, menus, book orders, and any other pertinent information.
· Please review the folder contents with your child.
· Your child needs to come to school every day unless they are sick or there are other extenuating circumstances. Many classroom experiences are unable to be made-up.
· Students may begin coming to the classroom at 7:30 am. They must be in the classroom by 8:00 or they will have to be marked as tardy.
· If it is necessary for your child to be absent, please send in a note the next school day so that the absence may be excused.
· If there is a change in your child’s transportation, please send in a note with your child on the morning of the change.
· If a note is not received, the student will have to go home their regular way.
· Homework will be meaningful as well as FUN. It will reinforce what has been learned in class and help students share their learning with you.
· Your child’s homework should only take a few minutes but we encourage you to read together nightly.
· Homework will not be assigned on weekends, PTA nights, or any other evening when the school is sponsoring an event (Spring Fling, Cici’s Night…)

Lunch Money
· The price for breakfast is $.80. The price for lunch is $1.75.
· Please send in any breakfast/lunch money in an envelope with your child’s name written on the outside as well as my name and the grade level.
· You may pay daily or prepay for any amount of time.
· The students will be learning lunch ID numbers beginning the 3rd week of school. More information will follow.
· Students will have a nutritious snack daily.
· Families will be asked to send in snacks throughout the year. Please check the newsletter to see when we are running low. We appreciate your help.
· Students will attend Music and P.E. twice a week and computer and art once per week.
· Students need to wear tennis shoes and appropriate clothing on P.E. days (Monday and Thursday).
· We will begin the year with a positive behavior plan called “Super-Clips”. The students can earn clips throughout the day for any super behavior they display. They will be rewarded at the end of each day for their good behavior. Rewards may be a prize, a smile and pat on the back, or anything that shows we are proud of them.
· Our class will meet over the first few days to determine our “rights and responsibilities”.
· Each student will be responsible for bringing in his or her .50 cents and giving it to Mrs. Mappin 1st thing in the morning.
· Students will not be allowed to buy ice cream if they have forgotten to turn in their money.
