What is an Evaluation?
A psycho-educational evaluation assesses the strengths and weaknesses of children among ability, academics, adjustment, behavior, and emotional development. This information is used to help determine the best planning and interventions for children both maximizing their assets and strengthening their weaknesses. Students are referred for an evaluation through the Student Support Team which includes parents, teachers, administrators, and support personnel. If after thoughtful teacher and parent interventions the student is still having difficulties, they can be referred for a psycho-educational evaluation to gain more insight into how they learn.
