Winter ~ 2010

**Six Flags Reading forms Due February 26th*


Reading: A Bed Full of Cats, Me on the Map, At Home Around the World, Tell Me a Story, My Robot, On the Job with Dr. Martha Smith and Little Bear's Friend are the stories we will be reading this nine weeks.

  ...

*First Grade students are expected to read 60 wpm by years end!


Grammar: Practicing for the CRCT and learning additional concepts like Antonyms, Homophones, Adjectives, Subjects and Predicates are what we are focusing on :)

Writing: The 6 + 1 traits of writing is what we will be using as our writing module. Students will learn the different components such as:

Look for our writing outside of our classroom!

 


            

 Math: We will be working on subtraction strategies, time, money, geometry, and problem solving with learning Math KEY Words to make us SUPER Smart Word Problem WIZARDS and QUEENS!!!


                                                                                                                                  

Science: Sound, Shadows and Light, Plants and Animals are what we will be studying in Science this semester.

Social Studies:  Famous American Heroes like Thomas Jefferson, Harriet Tubman, George Washington Carver, Annie Oakley, and Benjamin Franklin are who we will be learning about this semester.

Maybe we will see snow in Georgia this winter :)
