General test Information
 |
Students first take the GHSGT during the spring
semester of their Junior year
of high school. |

The writing portion of the test is taken in the fall
of their Junior year |
 |
The Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Math
portions are taken over a 4 day period in the spring. |

Students have multiple opportunities to pass the
GHSGTs. |
 |
The state does offer a waiver or variance of one of
the tests, but there are strict stipulations a student must
meet. Please contact your student's guidance counselor for more
information on this. |

Accommodations/Modifications
Accommodations are given for
special education students whose IEPs indicate that accommodations are
needed. If you believe that your child needs accommodations for the
GHSGT and he or she does not have accommodations or modifications written
into the IEP, please contact your child's case manager.

The media center has a computer disc available for
students to check out and download on their home computers. This
program is full of practice tests and review lessons. |

East Coweta High School has created a class to help
all students prepare for the GHSGT in the areas of Language Arts and
Math. This class is called Reading and Learning in the Content
Areas. It is geared toward first time test takers, but Seniors
can enroll in the class as well. |

After-school help may be available from your child's
teachers. Please ask to learn what is currently available. |
