Academic Bowl |
The Academic Bowl team will complete its 07-08 year on March 10th
when Arnall Middle hosts the final RESA match of the academic
year. Eight Evans' students have worked very diligently this
year, and that effort paid off especially on January 12th at the
PAGE regional meet hosted here at Evans. The Cougars advanced to
the State Semi-Finals in Milledgeville where they performed
admirably even though they did not advance.
This year's team follows an impressive line of champions, as
Evans' teams have captured the RESA title for the past five
years. Jackie Crumpacker, former science teacher at Evans, is
responsible for much of that success, and she continues to
volunteer her time at every practice and every competition. The
other coach, Sue Dennis, appreciates her former colleague's
involvement.
Although Arnall Middle seems headed for the RESA championship
this year, we can still hold our heads high and return next year
determined to reclaim that RESA trophy!
Representing Evans this year were the following: 8th graders
Allison Cooper, Mason Brantley, Miranda Hayes and Laura Lambert;
7th graders Cassidy Lyon and Melinda Smith; 6th graders Bryce
Griffiths and Jake Kneidel. These students have practiced every
Monday afternoon since the season began in September, and they
have demonstrated improvement at each competition.
